GUARDIANS OF THE WILD SERIES
Guardians of the Wild is a cinematic short-form documentary series currently in production, with episodes ranging from 20 to 30 minutes. Produced by the Human-Wildlife Coexistence Initiative, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), in partnership with Kalamo Productions, the series chronicles the lives of those standing between wildlife and extinction, revealing what coexistence looks like on the ground, and what is at stake if it fails.
OUR FIRST 3 FILMS
The first three Guardians of the Wild films are chapters in one escalating story unfolding along the California coast from wildlife pushed to the brink, to mounting political pressure to bring offshore oil drilling back to these waters. By centering the people fighting on the frontlines, these films aim to inform, inspire, and build a movement to protect a coastline that cannot speak for itself.
WINGS IN CRISIS
Currently in Production
Guardians of the Wild: Wings in Crisis pulls you into a hidden emergency unfolding along Southern California’s coast—where pelicans, seabirds, and countless wild creatures are arriving injured, starving, poisoned, and tangled in the consequences of our human world. In 2025 alone, the Wetlands & Wildlife Care Center took in nearly 8,000 beating hearts, victims of a crisis we created: fish disappearing, super-charged algae blooms, birds gored by fishing hooks, wings shattered by cruelty, owls dying from rodent poisons, and rescues surging after fires and toxic storm run-off. At the front lines is Zoli Teglas, racing to save broken birds, and Dr. Lizzie Wood, fighting to give each life a second chance while caring for over a thousand patients at any moment. This film is both intimate and urgent—a personal look at what it means to rescue wildlife in a world that’s forgetting how to live alongside it.
